Torsten’s swan-song for Honest Jons, excruciatingly (for us!!!) deciding to STOP making music as T++ despite being one of the most vital, genre-defining and singular artists within the genre since the mid 90’s. Here, he gets the key to the HJ vaults and takes a dive into the archives to sample ndingidi-player Ssekinomu – then reworking the early East African recordings through a prism of UK dance music, yet with one foot still planted in Berlin with echos of the Basic Channel / Chain Reaction core. Torsten’s well-documented and unwavering reverence for the likes of UK garage, jungle, bass and dubstep all seem to collide on this one, yet its executed with such finesse and authentic in a way that NO-ONE else could have managed. Definitely get the feeling that his entire oeuvre makes sense after hearing this one. VITAL. (Mint / New).
