Brian Not Brian strips out a cherished weirdo deep cut from obscure Dutch industrial band Doxa Sinistra for a limited 7” run for the DJs who aren’t afraid to loose the floor and elite home listeners alike.
It’s always nice when things come full circle. We first heard ‘The Other Stranger’ on Brian’s excellent Holywell Session mixtape for Blackest Ever Black back in 2014. The whole mix was a heavily narcotised journey odd-ball tracks that radiated with 8am after-after-hours sunlight. AC Marias, Otis G Johnson, Francis Bebey, etc. One track stood out and drove us MAD for some time. Slow tumbling drum-machines, a squirming acid patch and strangely collaged film dialogue collaged in between. Hopelessly googling whatever we could we tried ‘300 hot screaming kids waiting to see Leo the Lizard’ and got nothing. Eventually we found it, but having here on a useful 7” brings us joy – together with the ‘instrumental’ on the B-side. Nearly 30 years old but still more infectious and eccentric and anything since.
