The ultimate downer post-rock LP from Bristolian originators Crescent on their 3rd LP Collected Songs. The fuller guitar-howl sound of the first album makes way for a musky batch of somber, introverted pieces that are brewed in a particular sense of post acid-trip intimacy with deep loner dynamics. It ranges from moments of explosive dissonance to dubbier, gentle instrumentals with soft, tinkering piano keys and Matt Jones’ (also in Movietone) matter-of-fact, highly personal vocal delivery. Recorded between ’95-’98 and as the title would suggest, these pieces seem to occupy the moments between moments, where the group would lock into a communal mood and let things happen naturally, nothing hurried. Down but not out! One of the best and still massively overlooked.. (NM/VG+).
