New Blod on Forlag! Gothenburg’s musical underground anti-hero Gustaf Dicksson returns with his 4th LP for the label ‘Tusen Bitar’. Recorded and produced by Dan Johansson (Sewer Election, PIG, Enhet For Fri Musik, Oroskällan and an ever increasing list of other projects), this one follows in the same vein as more ‘complete’ offerings previous such as ‘Leendet Från Helvetet’ and ‘Knutna Nävar’ – more song-based that the off-the-cut micro-run Idiotmusik cassette series. It’s difficult to describe the music of Blod. An peculiar blend of bittersweet folk, tinged with flourishes of naivety, nostalgia, sadness and woozy pastoral charm, underpinned by an primitive DIY ethos and total outsider standpoint that adds to the allure. A varied but totally cohesive batch of dewy-eyed acoustic guitar, love-struck amateur song and medieval-tainted art-rock abstraction, all played in the key of SAD.
