Genre-defining deep techno epic from Italian’s Donato Dozzy and Neel under their Voices From The Lake guise. Taking obvious influence from nature, this one’s one of the DEEPEST most immersive listens around, a profound exercise in introspective ambient textures and expertly constructed, unhurried grooves that natural evolve and morph throughout the duration. The dark-art of storytelling in this kinda music is really key here, there’s a flow and narrative, emotional twists and turns that are triggered with subtle shifts in melody and the urgency of the groove and both of the Italian’s razor-sharp ears for sound design is ever present with sonic cues of the forest skilfully entwined. Originally constructed a mixed live set, the 3LP (!) set serves up each of the main pieces as individual standalone cuts that work perfectly on their own or for DJ. Still ruins me every time!
