Dubbed-out dreaming from Chicago three-piece Purelink who first came to our attention via that killer Purefessional CD from Japan’s Procare label / party in early summer.
It’s a diffuse, fractal collection of barely-there rhythms and lustre textures, created through the constant swapping / sharing / re-configuration of samples. I guess there’s a growing scene for this now – call it what you like – but whatever was birthed with the Bblisss tape and has been perpetuated by the Huerco S, Sferic, Ulla, DJ Paradise, Pontiac Streator +++ nexus. There’s nothing entirely new or shocking at play, references back to the Mille Plateux Clicks & Cuts aesthetic are present but whereas C&C was sorta geeky – Purelink seem to bask carefree in their own anesthetised atmosphere. Nice listening music. (Mint / New)
